Prt. Frederick William "Bill" Grayston

Prt. Frederick William “Bill” Grayston, formerly of the Highland Light Infantry (City of Glasgow Regiment), served in No.4 Troop and then No.6 Troop of No.6 Commando.

Prt. Frederick Grayston was Killed in Action (KIA) on 20th August 1944, aged 18 years.

He was the son of Charles Fredrick and Minnie Beatrice Grayston, of Lozells, Birmingham, and was laid to rest in Banneville-La-Campagne War Cemetery (Calvados, France). Grave XVI.D.13.

The inscription on his headstone reads:

‘Happy, smiling, always content.Loved, respected where e’er he went.’
